Welcome to my first post!
I have had this verse in my hearth for sometime, and since this was my first post I thought I should take the opportunity to share it with you.
The reading actually starts from verse 12, I read it from the Contemporary English Version (CEV)
The heading in my Bible for this reading was "Peter's Unusual Powers"
The apostles performed many miracles, and because of their signs and wonders, men and women gave their lives to Christ. The sick people where brought out on the street in hopes that Peters shadow would fall on them. (This the main topic of today's blog)
Not just only people that where sick where brought but also people who where troubled by evil spirit was brought to them and they where healed.
The main verse that stood out to me was....
--> Acts 5:15
"As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by" (NIV)
In my Bible, The (CEV)
---> Acts 5:15
" Then sick people were brought out to the road and placed on cots and mats.
It was hoped that Peter would walk by, and his shadow would fall on them
and heal them" (CEV)
This verse is so captivating don't you think?
The idea that Peter's shadow "would fall on them and heal them" is amazing!
Why? You might be asking...
You see Peter did not have to lay is hands on the sick, he didn't have to pray for them to heal them, he did not make any sort of contact to restore their health.
The healing came by Peter standing in front of the sunlight, cast his shadow and that was it they where healed.
It made me realize that sometimes is not always our words that can change situations.
Sometimes is the unspoken words and our presence could attract people to us. As followers of Christ we carry a light...this light is always shinning and sometimes we don't have to do or say anything, yet we find people drawn to us.
Just like Peter's shadow, all that needed to happen was his shadow to be cast on the sick and their situation turned around...they where healed!
Some of us are not the people of many words, and we don't talk much and in some cases we don't want to talk.
Like you want to invite your friend to church or to your youth ministry but you don't have the guts or the correct words to do so.
Let me tell you that as long as you cast your shadow on them, the situation can turn around.
What do I mean by Shadow?
Yes, we have our everyday shadows, the one that is made when an object blocks the light.
Non-verbal communication...the one shadow that requires no actions or words for people to see goodness of God in our lives.
So...What do I mean by Casting your Shadow?
Casting your Shadow simply means...projecting something that reflects Christ in us. Reflects the positive attributes that we have and so on.
This might be by your attitude, your positiveness...(many more attributes!)
And if you cast your shadow correctly then...
That friend that you have been trying to invite to church for the past year, might all of a sudden ask you to take him/her church.
Or they might openly ask for you to pray for them...Isn't that exciting.
One thing bear mind that there is time for everything...
You see Peter cast his shadow and there was instant recovery but you may cast your shadow and it might take time.
But at the end of the day with God's help everything will work out for the best.
"There is a time for everything..." Ecclesiastes 3:1
So what are you waiting for?
CAST YOUR SHADOW TODAY!!!!
